Pick Your Own Prompt

"When did you feel the most free? Write about it."

The last time I felt free was about 2 years ago when I was camping with my girlfriends family way into the woods. That was by a huge lake and there was not a soul in sight. I went hiking up the jungle like woods with just I and my girlfriend. Breathing the fresh mountain air, having nothing to worry about except for spiders and bears. We found a very nice big tree on top of a hill, and it was almost like something you'd see in the movies. It was the only tree on top of the hill, and it arched over the cliff side toward the lake. We sat there for least an hour watching the squirrels run around the tree and let the nice cool air flow run through the tree branches. There was a beautiful blue sky with very little clouds up over head. Time was all to short that day, but at the same time it feels like it lasted me a life time.

The Future

I'm 38 and my names Colt. I have two little kids and a beautiful/wonderful wife. Who I've been married too for about 11 years. I currently work two jobs. One I'm working as car mechanic, and my other job I work as a part time truck driver. My wife stays home and takes care of my young. I have a decent home with a nice RV pad on the side, unfortunately no RV. There's a very nice green lawn I taught my wife how to take care of while I'm away. We only have 3,201 sq feet of property, an only like 300 of that is the lawn. She loves growing her garden out back, sometimes I think she watches it more than the kids. I have a very beautiful car that I will spend the rest of my life paying for. Its Ford Gt 2010, and my wife drives a very nice Ford Fusion Hybrid 2010. Sadly all stock. I also have a very cool wolf dog that I've had since he was about the size of a water bottle. He's getting old an can't run as much as he use too when he was young. He just hit 8 years last month, but he still has his night piercing blue eye's.

On one hand its not bad getting older and watching your young grow older and stronger. On the other hand it does make me miss my mother though. She passed away just a year ago at the age of 69. she was always kind and very loving, and always very supporting even when i was young and dumb. I was always getting myself into trouble one way or another even if I didn't even try. Now my father I basically considered my third hand, the one that is never there. I don't miss him much. He left my family when I was at the age of 14, and even until then he wasn't very much of a father. He'd purposely try to make me cry. He'd scream an yell at my mother day in and day out, and the worst part about him is that he wasn't even an alcoholic.

I do however have a very awesome older brother. He was born 10 years before my time, and I thought I was starting to feel old. He's been married for almost 24 years. He has 1 teenager who gets into more trouble than a street fighter, and its a girl. He drives a very cool blue F-250 Ford pickup with a 12 inch lift. 419 Horsepower with 608 Ft pounds of torque, and its riding on 39 inch tires. His wife drives a purple 69 fastback Mustang that's pushing 500 horse, an 620 Ft pounds of torque. They have had their home for almost 26 years, an its been repainted almost every 3 years. He has a super fast SmokerCraft fishing boat that's powered by Honda.

Overall my life experience has been short and has more downs than ups, but not everyone can have a perfect life. I still keep finding ways to look forward to cashing my check and driving home to my wife kids, and my dog.

If I Was a Super Hero

If I had any super powers I'd want to be a vampire. I'd want to be able to stick my nails into concrete walls and climb up them at a very fast pace. I wouldn't mind having almost eternal life. I also wouldn't be a blood sucker to the death of humans, like how people make them seem like they're evil. I'd do it for the good. I would take a little blood from many humans to satisfy my vampire needs. I would also be invisible in war. I'd help protect our country if somebody like Iraq decided to airplane bomb us again or something similar. I'd help take murderers off the street by sucking their veins dry. The only person that I would make sure knew who or what I was would have to be the president of the United States.

This I believe

I believe people should all be equal in power. What normally happens to someone with power? They get greedy, overwhelmed, thick headed, and of course, controlling. I believe the police should not have so much power because they're basically able to do anything they want and be able to get away with it.

I've heard many stories of police purposely planting evidence in people's homes just so they can bring them in for questioning or to just bust them, because the police say "I had a feeling in my gut that he/she is the one".

I've also heard that a police officer was behind a car at a drive through and like usual the worker hands out a bag of the customers order, and somehow the police officer said that, that looked suspicious and he got out of his car and searched the customers bag, and found an ounce of marijuana in the bag. Now, how would a normal human being all of a sudden know what's hiding in a bag at a fast food drive through? Does this mean a police officer can check everyone's bag of food just because he wants to know what you ordered?

I myself have an example of getting in trouble with the law and all for dumb reasons. My first time I got in trouble with the law was from a traffic ticket. I was cruising down the street in a 1975 F-250 Ford pickup and there was a light coming up ahead and I got about a truck length and a half away from the white crosswalk painted lines. The light turned yellow at that time and I tried stopping but there was no way I could have in time in my big pickup so I kept going and went all the way through the light. After I got about 20 feet or more through the light it turned red. The police officer pulled me over about a mile away after the light and gave me a ticket for running a red light which in fact was yellow. As anyone knows the law enforcer's word rules over a normal working citizens word. He tried telling me, "Oh I have you on video," and such but the police officer would never show me this video. I argued about this in court and guess how it turned out? Yup, you guessed it, I had to pay the fine.

From all the stories I've heard about the police and court I believe its safe to say that the job of a police officer can become too overwhelming and they get so used to having too much power that they lose control of who they really are. There are people that do deserve their tickets and there are people who deserve to be locked up or fined with a big load. But I believe the amount of cash they expect someone to pay over some tickets should be decreased by far. Having bad experiences with cops also makes me believe they only have that job for the money and pleasure of ruining some peoples lives and knowing they can get away with it without a fight. I believe that even vs a police officer a person should be considered innocent until proven guilty.
